Jesus could have appeared on earth in any fashion of His choosing, but instead He chose to come through the Blessed Virgin to us. From total abstinence, we have proceeded to total indulgence, without knowing even a minor interval of innocent pleasure. The question is why did they put out a translation that doesn’t seem to have as heavy a Calvinist bias as many others (NIV, NASB, etc. and even NRSV [in Psalm 51:5]) For example, they give the same translation of Psalm 51:5 as the NKJV and RSV (“Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me”) rather than the heavily-Calvinist-biased paraphrase most translations give (“Indeed, I was born guilty, a sinner when my mother conceived me”).
